Authorities in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maharashtra, have apprehended a 30-year-old Nepali national, identified as Upendra Hudake, on charges of assaulting his 28-year-old wife. The incident, reportedly stemming from suspicions regarding the wife’s fidelity, took a gruesome turn.
The accused, Upendra Hudake, stands accused of subjecting his wife to a vicious attack, allegedly cutting two holes and “locking” her private parts after the assault. Following the incident, the victim underwent emergency surgery at a nearby hospital, where her condition is reported to be stable.
Hailing from a village in Nepal, the couple had recently relocated to Pune in search of employment, residing in close proximity to Wakad. The shocking assault occurred on May 11th, with Hudake purportedly intoxicated during the attack.
Despite the wife’s protestations of innocence, Hudake allegedly continued his onslaught, using a kitchen knife to terrorize and physically abuse her. Subsequently, he inflicted further harm by stabbing the woman in the genital area, securing the wounds with a small brass lock and iron screws before callously discarding the key.
The distressing ordeal came to light when Lalit Parihar, a neighboring migrant laborer, responded to the commotion and discovered the victim in critical condition. Prompt action from Parihar and other concerned neighbors led to the woman receiving prompt medical attention and undergoing emergency surgery to address her injuries.
In a display of courage, the victim filed a complaint against her husband at the Wakad Police Station five days later. Responding swiftly, authorities arrested Hudake and presented him before the Wakad Court. Charges have been filed against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, with investigations ongoing.
Speaking on the matter, Investigating Officer Balaji Mete emphasized the gravity of the crime and assured that appropriate legal action would be taken. The case underscores the urgent need for measures to address domestic violence and ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals within society.
