A 29-year-old man took his own life in Uran, Navi Mumbai, allegedly due to harassment by a woman, as per reports from the PTI.
The deceased’s wife has filed a complaint with the police, holding the woman responsible for pushing her husband to this drastic step.
The police, acting on the complaint, have filed a case against the 31-year-old woman under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code, citing abetment of suicide.
The man was found dead at the woman’s residence on January 13, triggering suspicion regarding the circumstances leading to his demise.
According to the victim’s wife, the accused woman had been relentlessly pressuring her husband to divorce her and marry her instead. This pressure seemingly drove him to end his life by hanging himself at the woman’s place in Uran.
Initially, the police treated the case as an accidental death and conducted a post-mortem examination at a government hospital. However, upon receiving the autopsy report and considering the wife’s complaint, they have now registered a case against the accused woman.
Meanwhile, in another distressing incident, the Navi Mumbai Police have initiated legal action against two individuals for allegedly swindling a 61-year-old businessman of Rs 4.41 crore in a deal related to optical fibre cables.
The victim, a resident of Kharghar, had engaged in a business deal with the accused parties from Nagpur. However, he later realized he had been cheated and promptly lodged a complaint with the police. Subsequently, the authorities registered a case against the two individuals under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and an investigation is underway.
In a separate development, a chilling revelation has emerged from an ongoing murder case in Mumbai. A 23-year-old suspect, already under arrest for the murder of an auto-rickshaw driver, confessed to the police that he had committed another murder last year in Navi Mumbai.
The accused, along with two accomplices, was apprehended for strangling the auto-rickshaw driver and dumping his body in the Mithi River. Allegedly, the motive behind the murder was suspicion of the victim having an affair with the main accused’s wife. This confession has prompted authorities to widen their investigation into the suspect’s criminal activities.
