In Bengaluru, India, a security guard caught on camera allegedly “masturbating” in front of passengers at a metro station is now believed to have been “misunderstood.” A senior official at the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) stated that the guard suffers from itchy skin and was uncontrollably scratching his groin area at the time.
However, the guard has since been suspended, and the investigation is ongoing. “Any action detrimental to the safety and security of women passengers has a zero-tolerance policy,” the BMRCL stated in a press release.
[adinserter name="One"]The BMRCL’s response came after a video went viral on social media, showing the unidentified guard touching his private parts and supposedly masturbating while apparently looking at a female passenger on the other platform at the Jalahalli metro station.
The woman stated, “He was continuously staring at me, simultaneously making some gestures.”
[adinserter name="Two"] [adinserter name="Three"]A BMRCL official acknowledged the woman’s concerns but suggested that she may have misunderstood the guard’s actions. “He has itchy skin and is on medication. It appears that he felt a strong urge to scratch his groin area at the time. Additionally, he is squint-eyed, which is medically certified. Therefore, when he started scratching his groin area and glanced in her direction, the woman on the other platform may have interpreted it as staring,” explained the official, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
[adinserter name="Four"] [adinserter name="Five"]The official pointed out inconsistencies in the timeline of the incident, noting that it occurred around 10 am, whereas the woman’s complaint mentioned 2:30 pm.
The woman further accused the BMRCL of not taking action on her complaint, while the official stated that the authorities needed time to verify the video. Additionally, since the incident occurred on a Sunday (March 17), there was a delay in response.
[adinserter name="Six"] [adinserter name="Seven"]“When we receive a complaint, we forward it to the relevant department for verification, and only then can we take any action,” the official clarified.
The guard will be dismissed if the inquiry finds him guilty, assured the official.
