A Texas man found himself in legal trouble after mistakenly entering his neighbor’s house and allegedly attacking an elderly man whom he believed to be an intruder, according to reports from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The incident, which occurred in San Antonio around 1:25 AM on Monday, led to Eric Collazo being taken into custody and charged with causing bodily harm to an elderly person.
Collazo entered the elderly man’s home using his own house key, mistaking it for his own residence, as reported by KSAT-TV. The elderly man, who was using the bathroom at the time, was startled when Collazo, dressed in black, suddenly appeared and began shouting and assaulting him.

Investigators were able to connect Collazo to the scene through evidence found, including a cellphone left in the bathroom. Additionally, authorities noted a strong smell of alcohol on Collazo during their interaction with him.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 1, according to online court records. Further inquiries have been made to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office for additional comments on the matter.

The reason behind this compatibility remains unclear, but investigators suspect it may be linked to the builder of the residences, as explained by Johnny Garcia, a public information officer for BCSO, in a statement to KSAT-TV.
