Sam Heughan, famously known for his role as Jamie Fraser in “Outlander,” has a bold plan to capture Taylor Swift’s attention during her concert in Edinburgh.
In a behind-the-scenes video posted on Instagram on Wednesday, June 5, the 44-year-old actor teased his intentions: “We’re gonna go see Taylor Swift play in Scotland. I think most of the cast is going.”
Heughan added with a cheeky grin, “She obviously doesn’t know this, but when she comes to Scotland and she sees me in the audience, she’s gonna forget all about … him and fall for a man in a ginger wig. How could she resist? She’s gonna shake him off and take me out instead. I’m really excited.”
Though the Scottish actor and producer didn’t reveal which of Swift’s Eras shows he will be attending, Swift, 34, is set to perform three shows at Edinburgh’s Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium starting on Friday, June 7.
“Welcome to Scotland Taylor,” Heughan captioned his post. “JAMMF is a Swiftie.”
Taylor Swift has been dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for almost a year. They first met when Kelce, also 34, attended her Eras Tour in July 2023, where he gifted her a DIY friendship bracelet. In a lighthearted moment on his “New Heights” podcast, Kelce recalled his disappointment when he didn’t get to meet Swift or give her the bracelet with his number on it.
“Well, I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Kelce shared. “So I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her … with my number on it. She doesn’t meet anybody — or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personal. But it was an unbelievable show. Kansas City showed out.”
Their romance began after Swift heard Kelce’s podcast pleas, thanks to a mystery matchmaker later revealed to be Swift’s second cousin, Danny Frye III. Swift opened up about their connection in her 2023 TIME Person of the Year profile, saying, “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell. We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for because we got to get to know each other.”
The couple went public in September 2023, with Swift attending several Chiefs games. Kelce, enjoying his NFL offseason, has reciprocated by supporting Swift at various shows during the European leg of her Eras Tour.
With Heughan’s playful declaration, the Scotland leg of Swift’s tour promises to be even more intriguing. Will Taylor Swift really shake off Travis Kelce for the charming Scot? Fans will have to wait and see!
