Vidisha: A 35-year-old man hailing from Madhya Pradesh diligently acquired printing techniques as a vocational skill during his time in jail, only to employ them in the production of counterfeit currency after his release, as per an official’s statement on Sunday.

The return of Bhupendra Singh Dhakat to criminal activities surfaced following his arrest on Saturday, during which the police seized 95 fake notes, each bearing a denomination of Rs 200, revealed the official.

Furthermore, a color printer, six ink bottles, and paper suitable for crafting authentic-looking counterfeit notes were discovered at his residence, disclosed Sironj Sub Divisional Officer of Police, Umesh Tiwari, to PTI.

Dhakat has admitted to manufacturing and circulating the forged notes within the district over the past few months.

Tiwari elaborated that Dhakat has been implicated in 11 criminal cases, including murder, and has had a history of incarceration.

While serving his last sentence in the district, Dhakat acquired printing skills as part of a vocational training initiative aimed at aiding inmates’ reintegration into society upon release.

Regrettably, Dhakat chose to exploit his newfound expertise for illicit monetary gain.

Despite being barred from Vidisha, Rajgarh, Raisen, Bhopal, and Ashok Nagar districts in October 2003 for a year, Dhakat managed to evade the restrictions and continue his counterfeit operations in the area, as per a police source.

Vidisha Jail superintendent, Priyadarshan Shrivastava, noted that inmates are provided with training in offset printing and screen printing to facilitate their livelihood opportunities post-release.
