Sarthak Das, aged 32, was stabbed to death by his live-in partner, Sanhati Paul, in a shocking incident. Das, a Kolkata-based photographer, resided in a flat in the Dumdum area with Paul, who worked as a makeup artist.
[adinserter name="One"]The attack occurred shortly after Das posted a picture on social media featuring himself, Paul, and her son.
The couple had been together for about a year and a half but had recently been engaged in frequent arguments.
Paul admitted to stabbing Das multiple times with a knife and promptly notified the police.
[adinserter name="Two"]Upon their arrival, Das was found dead with several stab wounds.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The police took legal action against Paul for Das’s murder, and she confessed to the crime during interrogation.
[adinserter name="Three"]However, her motive remains undisclosed. Anupam Singh, DCP (South Zone) Barrackpore, informed the media that Paul would be presented in court on Thursday following her arrest.
[adinserter name="Four"]Speculation arose linking the murder to Das’s recent social media post, where he shared images of their “family” with hashtags like “#betterhalf” and “#loveofmylife”.
Paul, who is divorced with a son from a previous marriage, was featured in these posts, which have since been deleted.
[adinserter name="Five"]This incident is not isolated; recent months have seen a series of murders committed by live-in partners.
[adinserter name="Six"]In June 2023, Manoj Sahani murdered his 36-year-old partner, Saraswati Vaidya, in Mumbai, dismembering her body and boiling the pieces in a cooker to eliminate odors.
[adinserter name="Seven"]In August 2023, a 24-year-old woman was killed by her live-in partner in Bengaluru, who struck her head with a cooker, suspecting infidelity.
