Ukraine Expresses Full Support for Israel Amidst Ongoing Conflict with Gaza

Kyiv, October 7, 2023 – In a show of international solidarity, Ukraine has firmly declared its support for Israel as the Middle East nation faces a barrage of rocket attacks from Gaza. The Ukrainian foreign ministry, taking to social media, strongly condemned the ongoing terrorist attacks against Israel, including rocket strikes on the civilian population centers of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Ukraine has expressed its unwavering support for Israel’s right to defend itself and protect its people.
The conflict escalated on Saturday, October 7, 2023, as Israel’s army reported confronting Gaza militants who infiltrated Israel by land, sea, and air, using unconventional means like paragliders. The initial provocation was a relentless barrage of rockets fired from the Palestinian enclave into Israeli territory.
Army spokesman Richard Hecht disclosed that the situation escalated into a combined ground raid involving paragliders, sea incursions, and land-based infiltrations. Israeli forces are actively engaged in ground combat within Israel’s borders. Hecht confirmed casualties but did not provide details or confirm reports of Israelis being captured by Palestinian militants.
In response to the crisis, Israel is mobilizing thousands of military reservists, not only in Gaza but also in northern Israel, near the borders with Lebanon and Syria, as well as the occupied West Bank. The Israeli army has characterized this situation as significant, and it continues to assess the extent of the threat.
Reports suggest that over 2,200 rockets were launched from Gaza by 10:30 am (0730 GMT), while Hamas militants claim a figure exceeding 5,000. Israel’s blockade of Gaza, initiated in 2007 after Hamas took control, has resulted in periodic cross-border conflicts.
