Four police officers in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, have been charged with sexually abusing a minor.
Chennai, October 5, 2023: Tamil Nadu has suspended four police officers for allegedly sexually abusing a girl in Trichy. The four have also been accused of violating a number of provisions of the POCSO, which protects children from sexual offences.
The girl was reportedly travelling with a male acquaintance at the time of the assault, according to the police. The four police officers stopped the two and questioned them after they were accused of drinking.
The juvenile said in the police report that the four got into a fight with the girl’s friend while they were being questioned. They then attacked him and violated her sexually.
The four cops – Sasikumar, Sankarapandi, Prasad, and Sidharth were suspended as a result of her accusation. Further study is being done.
